Participants can use the ski lifts to come back down the mountain once the race is over. Likewise, the people accompanying the runners as well as the general public can follow the participants and use the ski lifts free of charge to get to the check points and cheer on the runners throughout the event. VERTICAL KILOMETER These are very short and explosive races, which follow a direct line from the base of the stations up to the highest point. The difference in altitude is approximately 1,000 meters (1KM) and the distance covered is less than 5 kilometers. In mountain races of this type the start is that of an against the clock time trial, in other words, runners start one by one every 30-60 seconds, depending on the number of participants. A draw will be held to decide the starting order, except for the leaders in the ranking and those with the best times, who will start last.
